Ancillary Poster 1

As my first poster in the campaign, I've used a image from the abstract world. After looking at poster such as Clockwork Orange, Vaduva Neagra and The Great Gatsby I've attempted to create a mix of there styles to create a poster that both film enthusiasts and women will be attracted to. Although this poster leans toward a more artist one from the use of the image with the red string. However the arrangement and layout was heavily influenced by The Great Gatsby, i felt this way it was more inviting to a female audience as well. I added elements such as the reviews and ratings to further appeal to a film knowledgeable audience, and the tag line is from a draft of our fortunes we created. To further link to the Chinese theme of fate.
I choose the colour scheme based on the prominent colours of our film, and based on the vintage schemes. This give the poster a sense of the drama and romance genres and not creating to much of a dark and mysterious impression.

  1. Ancillary task 1 seems to appeal to me the most. firstly the CAPITAL 'S' & 'A' in the title is well positioned, looks like the letters are being pulled away in the same direction of the strings, this creates an automatic link between the title and the string on this character,
the character is centred and i understand she is a crucial character, so these neccessary elements of the film are well protrayed.

The ratings are well postioned and link with the image so it does not look randomly placed. the fonts work but there should not be too many different fonts as it confuses the look and subverts the proffessional look, the suaveness, looks abit undecisive as their are a confusion of fonts, same thing in ancillary 3 where 3 different fonts are used and ancillary 2 where 3-4 differents fonts are used too.

I liked Times italic font, i think that worked well, and the credits below are perfectly fine in all posters, clear and colour works well.
i like the way the colour red is made the most vibrant and bold colour in all posters, it is the re-occuring colour that is memorable and so the housestlye is well kept and linked.

Ancillary 1 needs more editing on the string however, you need to make it stand out more because it seems to fade in the background and from far i would not be able to tell the string is attatched.

-Ancillary 3 establishes characters well and fortune which are main elements in the film.

  2. All three posters are good as the main character is the focus on all of them and it is very clear to the audience that the woman is the main character. You have used the colours White, Black and Red in all three magazines, therefore creating a house style.
To improve maybe you could ad strings in all three of the posters to make the two worlds of the film collide in the poster and maybe you could use more darker colours as at the moment it looks like a sweet story and the girl looks innocent, where actually she is not and there is a dark side to the story.
I like the way how the way how the girl is by herself in all three posters giving a hint that she will end up lonely.

  3. Your character features in all 3 of your poster, this can either be a good thing , or a bad. The reason I say this is because you risk not having a variety of differnet posters. Dont get me wrong , I do believe that this poster is good! and that your photshop skills have served you well. But thats just me being a grumpy old man haha Although your posters do show a 'variety' of emotions which may be just as good
